Milan must commit to an additional €100m to secure three key renewals

AC Milan announced the renewal of Pierre Kalulu on Thursday and it’s one of eight already completed renewals in 2022. The big ones remain, though, namely Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao.

The players in question, as highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews) are Ibrahimovic, Theo, Tonali, Tomori, Gabbia, Pobega and Krunic. In addition to these players, Mirante, Florenzi and Messias can also be mentioned as Milan triggered clauses to keep them.

Milan have committed to payments of €107m by renewing these players and more will have to be spent if they want to renew Bennacer and Leao as well. They aren’t the only ones remaining, though, as Olivier Giroud also is on the Rossoneri’s list.

Bennacer has asked for €4m per year and an agreement could be reached somewhere around that amount. Giroud is likely to continue at €3.5m and there is great optimism got both of these operations.

Leao, on the other hand, has asked for €7m and it remains to be seen how high Milan will go. These three renewals would mean an additional €94m for Milan, taking the total up to €200m: €32.7m for Bennacer, €6.8m for Giroud, €41m for Leao (plus €13m for Sporting payment).
