Milan issue strong response to story about Caldara-Bonucci swap investigation

Denials have emerged from AC Milan regarding the rumours that surfaced suggesting the club could be implicated in the Juventus investigations.

Earlier today, Libero (via SpazioMilan) reported that the swap deal that took place between Milan and Juventus back in summer 2018 involving centre-backs Leonardo Bonucci and Mattia Caldara is of interest to the investigators.

The deal saw Bonucci return to the Bianconeri having spent one season with the Rossoneri, while Caldara joined Milan for €35m and thus Juve registered a capital gain of €29m on the balance sheet.

Bonucci was valued at the same amount by Milan, so it was more or less a straight swap in practice between an established top-level defender and one of the brightest young talents in Italian football.

However, MilanNews are reporting that Milan have responded to the speculation doing the rounds this morning by reiterating that the rumours are ‘totally unfounded’ and are in fact considered ‘harmful’ to the reputation of the club.
