Milan included in capital gains investigation due to Bonucci-Caldara swap

The capital gains investigation hasn’t exactly come as a shock to those that have followed Italian football for a while. Juventus aren’t the only ones at risk, though, but also the clubs they have dealt with.

Although they weren’t included in the first round of investigations, AC Milan will be included in the second round. In fact, as reported by Libero (via SpazioMilan), the Bopnucci-Caldara swap is of interest to the investigators.

The deal took place in the summer of 2018, just one year after Bonucci joined Milan for a hefty sum. Juventus valued Caldara at €35m and thus registered a capital gain of €29m on the balance sheet.

Bonucci was valued at the same amount by Milan as it was more or less a straight swap in practice, albeit two separate deals on paper. This deal will be looked into further by the FIGC and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be.
