AC Milan will head en-masse to Reggio-Emilia knowing that a draw against Sassuolo will be enough to secure a first league title in 11 years.
As expected, there has been a huge surge in demand for tickets and a clamour to get hands on them by whatever means necessary, with some reselling sites demanding thousands and Sassuolo’s website struggling to cope with the many requests.
As reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the fixture very quickly sold out after the tickets were released as the 24,000 seats in the Mapei Stadium are all now occupied, meaning it will be their biggest home crowd of the season.
The paper believes that of the 24,000, around three quarters (18k) will be Milan fans, who will quite literally invade the small town in the hopes of witnessing one of the more special days in the club’s recent history. The final hurdle, therefore, will feel like a home game.
