AC Milan

Milan did something for the first time since 1998 during Fiorentina and Sassuolo defeats

It was an afternoon to forget for AC Milan at San Siro yesterday as they were beaten 3-1 by Sassuolo to register their second straight league defeat.

Things started well for Milan as they took the lead midway through the first half through Alessio Romagnoli’s near post header, but that lead would last just three minutes as Gianluca Scamacca levelled.

It was that goal which seemed to rock the Rossoneri as they never got going after that, with a Simon Kjaer own-goal giving the away side a lead before the interval and Domenico Berardi adding a third for the Neroverdi before Romagnoli saw red.

After the 4-3 defeat against Fiorentina last weekend, Milan also matched something they have not done for over 23 years. Stefano Pioli’s men have conceded 7 goals or more in two consecutive league games for the first time since March 1998, when they lost 3-0 against Inter and 4-1 against Juventus.
