Miami FC owner ‘happy to have invested in Milan’ with his ‘friends from RedBird’

Miami FC owner Riccardo Silva has spoken out about his decision to invest in AC Milan and be part of the new ownership under RedBird Capital and Gerry Cardinale.

It was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) back on August 31 – the day of the official transfer of shares – that RedBird capital would be joined in their new venture by the New York Yankees and Main Street Advisors, who have LeBron James and Drake among their investors.

They also mentioned the name of Riccardo Silva – the owner of Miami FC and owner of Silva International which invests in assets in multiple sectors – and his brother Saverio, co-owner of the chemical group Desa.

Now, Silva has spoken to Sky in Italy about his decision to become a part of the Milan takeover, given that he has been a fan of the club since he was young.

“I’ve been a Milan fan since birth, it’s nice to see him on the big stages again. Thanks to Elliott who did an outstanding job. Now I’m happy to have invested in Milan with my friends from RedBird, I’m an investor-fan who doesn’t get involved in operational management,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“I’m happy that, after a few disappointing years, Milan are back to achieving certain results. The presence of so many representatives of the Rossoneri club also in the Globe Soccer Awards is a sign that Milan are back to greatness.”
