Mancini praises Tonali but insists he still has ‘ample room for improvement’

Throughout the season and especially in this season finale, Sandro Tonali has been a crucial player for AC Milan in their hunt for the Scudetto. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, as assured by Roberto Mancini.

The Italy manager was asked about the growth of Tonali this season, given that he’s a great prospect and could be a long-term solution for the Italian national team. He had words of praise but also made one thing clear.

“He has made his debut with the national team, he’s having a great season but he still has ample room for improvement. And the midfield is the department that gives us the least amount of problems,” he told Corriere Dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com).

This season, Tonali has bagged five goals and three assists, which is quite impressive given that he plays in Milan’s midfield tandem. Of course, he does so much more for the Rossoneri than just scoring and assisting.

He will play from start in Milan’s game against Sassuolo on Sunday and they just need one point to clinch the Scudetto. It’s still a tough task, but Stefano Pioli’s men are the favourites heading into the clash.
