Manchester United is the dream destination for football stars across the globe and has been for many years.
One of the biggest clubs in the world, they rival Liverpool for the most trophies in English football.
Their dominance of the Premier League, though not in recent years, puts them head and shoulders above their rivals.
United have won the Premier League an astonishing 13 times, compared to the second-most who are Chelsea on five.
Naturally, the biggest and best players in the world have been attracted to the club – who can also boast as one of the richest in football – but who has made it clear that they want to move to Old Trafford?
Manuel Akanji
The Borussia Dortmund star has recently been linked with a move to United in a swap deal with Donny van de Beek.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for a defender and the 25-year-old fits the bill perfectly.
He has also stated that he has dreamt of moving to the Red Devils since he was a child.
Speaking in 2018, the Switzerland international said: “I have a big dream. To get as far as possible in football.
“Since my childhood days Manchester United have been my favourite club. I’d like to play there one day.”
Tete
Plying his trade for Shakhtar Donetsk since 2019, the 21-year-old has previously stated that he would love to sign for United – but would not turn down Liverpool so easily.
“Three clubs are part of my dream in Europe: Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool,” he told Esporte Interativo.
“I know United and Liverpool are rivals. But, if the moment of choosing one of them actually came about I would have to choose wisely.
“The Premier League is an extraordinary competition, the game is played at a great pace, there are lots of great managers and great clubs.
“I feel the players have more creative freedom there. That’s the difference amongst Europe’s biggest leagues.”
Yeferson Soteldo
Soteldo might be playing for Santos today but his grand ambition is to make it at Old Trafford – because of Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I always dreamed of playing for Manchester United, the dream remains intact,” the 23-year-old told El Drink Team Podcast (via Gazeta Esportiva).
“I’ve been following Cristiano Ronaldo since I was a child, I saw him at Manchester United and that’s why my love and desire to play at Old Trafford.
“I would choose easy. I would make a lifetime contract.”
Franck Kessie
Prior to his move to AC Milan, the defensive midfielder was on the radar of Chelsea and the Ivorian addressed those rumours.
However, in doing so, Kessie revealed his love for their Premier League rivals.
Back in 2017, he told Tutto Mercato: “I like the Premier League and in particular Manchester United,” he said. “A team for which I dream of playing.
“Chelsea? Even that is a great club, no one would refuse it, but I dream of United.”
