Journalist reveals background on Milan’s pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt’s latest star

Randal Kolo Muani is the latest name to be called up to the France squad after the injury sustained by Christopher Nkunku, and he could have been going there as an AC Milan player.

Milan were extensively linked with a move for Kolo Muani while he was playing at FC Nantes during the 2021-22 season, a campaign in which he netted 12 times in the league and added four assists, but in the end Eintracht Frankfurt were the side who secured his services.

Luca Bendoni of Di Marzio has spoken about the ‘truth about the backstory of Kolo Muani’ and Milan. He confirms that Paolo Maldini held a meeting with his agents on 16 December 2021 and there were discussions about the forward.

There were also talks about Saint-Etienne centre-back Saidou Sow (another player from that agency MDC) but then ultimately nothing concrete followed it in the months that passed.

Eintracht moved fast to sign the 23-year-old Kolo Muani in a long negotiation that started in December, signing him on a free transfer. Many top clubs are interested given he already has 19 goal contributions this season, but Frankfurt do not want to sell.
