Roma manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot, according to reports.
Mourinho brought the 22-year-old to Old Trafford in June 2018 but the transfer hasn’t worked out as planned.
Dalot has made just 24 Premier League appearances for United since his reported £19million move from Porto.
Mourinho was sacked by the Red Devils just six months after the transfer and the player struggled for minutes under his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Dalot reignited his stuttering career last season, playing 33 games in all competitions for AC Milan during a season-long loan.

His impressive performances in Italy earned him a spot in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020, picking up four senior caps to date.
Despite his renaissance in Milan, Dalot hasn’t started a Premier League fixture since his return to Old Trafford last summer.
And, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho wants to take advantage of United’s reluctance to play the defender.
Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto is said to be discussing a deal with the Red Devils to bring Dalot to the Italian capital.
The player is believed to be keen on the move and reunite with Mourinho, who he sees as a “mentor”.
Roma are reportedly wanting to take Dalot on loan in January before completing a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
The loan fee is thought to be €1.5m – around £1.3m – with United getting between €13m (£11m) and €15m (£12.8m) in the summer.
Roma are currently fifth in Serie A, ten points behind leaders Napoli.
Speaking earlier this month, Dalot insisted his lack of minutes at United was down to injuries and sees his future at Old Trafford.
“When I went to Milan it was perfect to balance everything and return to this season,” he said. “That is why I wanted to stay here, fight for games and be an important player for the team.

“I wanted to stay here and the club trusted me to stay here. My mind was completely focused on having an important role in this team.”
Dalot is currently competing with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has struggled this season, for the right-back position at Old Trafford.
“The most beautiful and healthy competition is when there are two or three for each position and you can learn from each other,” added the Portuguese.
“I’m sure Aaron learns some things from me when I play, I learn from him. Everyone is going to be a part of it this season.”
If Dalot decides to stay at United, he will need to convince the club’s new interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
The German was hired on Monday and is expected to remain in charge until the end of the season before becoming a consultant.
Discussing Rangnick’s appointment, United legend Wayne Rooney said: “He’s obviously very highly respected in the game, and I think he’s got a tough job to come in [to].
“I don’t mean in terms of his ability, in terms of to come in for six months and stamp his way of playing and his pressing if you like, and how he likes to work.”
