AC Milan

“I think he still has it”

AC Milan made their comeback in the Champions League on Wednesday evening after seven long years. One of the men that deserve a lot of praise for that is Paolo Maldini, the technical director of the club.

Along with sporting director Ricky Massara, Maldini has made several smart investments on the market. Furthermore, he has once again become a symbol of the club, the importance of which he has transferred into the current players.

In an interview after Liverpool-Milan (as cited by MilanNews), which ended in a 3-2 loss, Maldini’s former teammate Alessandro Costacurta spoke about the former. He praised the 53-year-old and highlighted one key strength.

“I believe that Paolo has always shown little of his emotions as a footballer, even if he was a very emotional one. His strength was that this didn’t alter his performance. Paolo had great management of emotions and I think he still has it,” he stated.

Milan will face Juventus on Sunday evening and after three wins, they will be looking to continue their winning streak. Of course, it would be perfect for Maldini and his team to start the season with four wins, especially given the schedule.
