LIONEL MESSI has put Paris Saint-Germain on red alert after LEAVING Barcelona.
The French giants are one of the few clubs in world football who could afford his wages – Messi was earning £2.1 million A WEEK at the Nou Camp.
If PSG manage to pull off what would be this summer’s most sensational transfer, it would see the six-time Ballon d’Or winner link up with old Barca mate Neymar.
And along with Kylian Mbappe, the trio would surely put PSG in pole position to win that elusive Champions League trophy.
Manchester City are likely to be the big rivals to PSG landing Messi, with their boss Pep Guardiola having worked with the Argentine before.
But having just signed Jack Grealish for £100m and with £160m-rated Harry Kane also on City’s radar, PSG are favourites to land Messi.
The French giants will start the season with Italy’s Euro 2020 goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks.
He left AC Milan on a free this summer.
Layvin Kurzawa is likely to start at left-back, with new-signing Achraf Hakimi on the right.
The Moroccan joined from Inter Milan for £51.3m.
And the centre-back positions are as commanding as you like.
Sergio Ramos surprisingly left Real Madrid to join PSG, and he could link up with Marquinhos at the back.
But France international Presnel Kimpembe will be challenging the pair for a slot.
Former Premier League duo Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye could shield the defence, with Marco Verratti pinging the through balls to a mouthwatering attack.
Liverpool recruit Georgino Wijnaldum will be hoping to break into that midfield.
Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are certain to leave rival defenders quakling in their boots.
And Angel Di Maria will not be giving up on his starting spot so easily after an assist-laden 2020/21.

Whoever thinks wijnaldum needs to prove anything to replace veratti gueye or that other guy in midfield is out of his mind.
Wijnaldum proved to be world class in Liverpool and has been the driving force behind the Dutch national team since we lost our talented veterans robben sneijder vpersie etc…
Wijnaldum is better than al 3 current midfielders of psg in power, balcontrol, vision and heading.
Al he needs is to get acquainted to his new teammates.
And with 3 top 5 attackers in front of him he won’t get tired of constantly switching from offense to defence since these 3 should be able to turn 20% of ball possessions from 50 feet into goals
