Giroud says he will ‘pay for dinner’ when Ibrahimovic signs Milan renewal

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud competed for the starting spot up front this past season but also played together a few times. Being two very experienced strikers, they have a great relationship both on and off the pitch.

Giroud will be Milan’s starting striker at the start of the upcoming season, at least, as Divock Origi is recovering from an injury currently. The same goes for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but he will be out for longer (until next year).

After the presentation of his book at Casa Milan earlier today, Giroud was asked about his friendship with Ibrahimovic, as well as the future of the latter. He promised that he will pay for dinner once the renewal has been signed.

“When he signs the renewal, I will pay for dinner. We want him to sign, obviously no pressure on the club. He is still hungry, he is important for the locker room. I talked a lot with him, he has the same desire to win even at 40,” he stated.

The renewal seems to be a matter of time as both parties have reached an agreement on the terms. There’s no point in rushing it, though, as Ibrahimovic is working hard to recover now anyway.
