Mike Maignan is now rightly regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and AC Milan are aware that clubs are taking note of his exploits for club and country.
The sensational save Maignan made for France against Ireland put him on the front pages of half the world’s sports newspapers, which is well-deserved media exposure for the Rossoneri goalkeeper after the Scudetto win last season.
However, these high-profile saves in big games have now stirred the interest of top European clubs who have set their sights on the 27-year-old, aware of his qualities and how he can be decisive in terms of earning points.
According to Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it), Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are already thinking of extending the contract of Maignan in order to avoid a repeat of the Rafael Leao situation.
Their plan is to double Maignan’s salary compared to the current one he earns, meaning he would go from earning €2.8m net per season plus bonuses to €4.5-5m.
