AC Milan are still working to try and secure the renewal of Rafael Leao and they are optimistic about being able to do so, a report claims.
This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports how Leao has now become an essential element of Stefano Pioli’s side and for this reason the management are working to extend his contract until 2026, to secure a player they consider to be a part of their long-term plans for the future.
The paper adds that the discussions between the Rossoneri management and Leao’s agent Jorge Mendes are continuous. While at the moment his signing does not seem to be imminent, there is an atmosphere of ‘trust and optimism’ between the parties.
Leao moved onto double figures for goals in all competitions this season as he netted an early winner for Milan against Sampdoria yesterday during the 1-0 victory.
