Chelsea transfer round-up: Inter Milan make Romelu Lukaku claim as Blues eye Domenico Berardi

Chelsea aren’t having the summer many expected.

After being Premier League title winners Manchester City in the Champions League final, Thomas Tuchel was set to be backed by owner Roman Abramovich in the transfer market to begin their assault on reclaiming the English crown.

So far, however, there have been no incomings.

Less than three weeks away from their opening match of the top-flight season at home to Crystal Palace, Stamford Bridge has only seen departures.

Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori have headlined those going through the exit doors, leaving fans eager to know who’ll be coming the other way.

Tantalisingly for supporters, the rumours persist.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest transfer news surrounding Stamford Bridge.

“Lukaku is an important piece on the chessboard available to Simone Inzaghi.”

The Belgium hitman has bagged 66 goals in 97 games for Inter since leaving Manchester United in 2019, firing the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title last season.

Tuttosport recently reported that Abramovich would need to submit an offer of at least €120m (£102.5m) in a bid to lure Inter to the negotiation table after selling him for £28 million in 2014.

With Tuchel keen to bolster his attacking options with a proven goalscorer, he may now have to look elsewhere.

Blues eye Italian alternative

Chelsea have a close eye on Italy forward Domenico Berardi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite the Blues’ reported interest in Federico Chiesa, the Italian outlet claim that the man he replaced in Italy’s triumphant Euro 2020 side is now in their sights after the Juventus man was deemed ‘untouchable.’

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are also said to be interested after Berardi enjoyed another stunning season in Serie A.

Having matured at Sassuolo, the ex-Juventus man has bagged 24 direct goal contributions in successive top-flight seasons, putting him on the market for a move this summer.

Abraham conditions set

Tammy Abraham looks likely to depart Chelsea this summer, with Arsenal in pole position to sign the 23-year-old.

According to The Sun, the two London clubs are set to agree to a loan deal but the Blues are insisting on an obligation to buy clause in any potential transfer.

And Express Sport have added that the Gunners are willing to considerably increase Abraham’s wages from £80,000 to £125,000 in order to bring him to the Emirates.

Abraham – a boyhood Arsenal fan – found himself on the peripheries of Thomas Tuchel’s side once the German took charge, notably being omitted from Chelsea’s squads for both the FA Cup and UCL final.

Although he has netted 32 strikes in 84 appearances for the Blues, he is seen as surplus to requirements as Tuchel bids to trim down his roster.
