Allardyce gives youngster advice

Conor Gallagher has been urged to stay on at West Brom by Sam Allardyce

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce has urged Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher to rejoin the Baggies on loan for another year if they manage to stay up this season.

The 19-year-old has impressed for the relegation battlers this term, and Big Sam wants to see him progress even further at The Hawthorns.

He said: “If we stay in the Premier League I’d hope he is here next season not at Chelsea. He’d be better off having another season with us rather than the competitive size of the Chelsea squad.

“He is learning and development level at 19 has been improved. I have seen a good player since I have been here. I heard how good he was before I came.

“I think every day and every game he plays in the Premier League he gains more experience. When you lose more than you win, which he is experiencing for the first time, it makes you tougher. More determined.”

AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is yet to extend his contract at the San Siro

Chelsea are still in the hunt to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports from Italy.

The 25-year-old is out of contract with his boyhood club this summer, and talks are not thought to have progressed much in recent weeks.

Donnarumma’s hard-nosed agent Mino Raiola is playing hardball with Rossenieri chiefs, reports gianlucadimarzio.com, leaving the Italy international in a precarious position.

Edouard Mendy has impressed between the sticks for the Blues this season but may not be the man to do the job for the long-term, while the future of major flop Kepa Arrizabalaga remains up in the air.
