Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is on the verge of signing with Italian outfit AC Milan on a two-year deal, according to reports. 

Chelsea are planning a mass clear-out this summer and Giroud, who is set to become a free agent when his contract runs out on June 30, is one of those expected to depart.

And according to Italian publication Calciomercato.com, the experienced French striker has chosen AC Milan as his next destination having received offers elsewhere from the likes of West Ham and New York City FC.

The report goes onto claim that Giroud still believes he can have a big impact at the highest level, and he is ‘intrigued’ by the chance to play in Serie A and in the Champions League again.

Giroud, 34, has reportedly come to an agreement with Milan over a two-year deal worth £3.4million-per-season with performance-related bonuses on top.

Milan and Giroud will be hoping to iron out the finer details as soon as possible, with the Euros on the horizon.

Giroud was restricted to the bench largely for Chelsea in the season just gone, and is going in search of regular game-time.

Last season, Giroud netted 11 times in 31 appearances overall under Frank Lampard and then Thomas Tuchel.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, having joined from Arsenal in 2018, Giroud has won one Champions League, the FA Cup and the Europa League.

He heads a long list of Chelsea players set to depart this summer as Thomas Tuchel looks to refine his squad following their Champions League triumph over Manchester City last weekend.

As many as 11 fringe players could be on their way out, including Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, Ross Barkley and Billy Gilmour.
