Chelsea, Man City and PSG on alert as Maldini makes admission over star duo

There were several interesting topics spoken about by Paolo Maldini during his appearance at the Trento Sport Festival, and among them was the interest in AC Milan’s top players.

Calciomercato.com recall how Maldini was asked if he had repelled attempts by big foreign clubs for the precious pieces of the Rossoneri’s project, and his response was one of transparency and realism.

“Did I reject offers for Leao and Theo Hernandez? I told some not to even show up. The problem is that then they return to the office and then you have to decide what to do,” he said.

“In the context of the sustainability of the club, I repeat that we have the accounts in place and we don’t need to sell anyone. We want to keep the strongest players, but players who cannot be sold today no longer exist.”

The report mentions how Leao is at the centre of a complicated negotiation for the renewal of the contract expiring in 2024, with Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City topping the list of clubs who want to sign him.

Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on Leao and they like Theo Hernandez too despite investing in Nuno Mendes of Sporting CP. Maldini’s admission is that it is increasingly difficult to resist the call of certain clubs who have budgets far beyond that of Milan. Nonetheless, the aim is to keep the best players and build.
