Atalanta happy to pay €12m for midfielder but Milan fear Pessina-esque regret

AC Milan have set the asking price for Tommaso Pobega but it appears that Atalanta are convinced to pay it, according to a report.

Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanLive) reports that negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing over the 22-year-old Pobega, who has returned to Milanello after an excellent first full season in Serie A with Spezia and has caught the eye of La Dea.

Milan are asking for €12m for Pobega which could constitute a pure capital gain considering he came through the youth academy, but Atalanta are already convinced about signing the player and therefore it can be inferred that the asking price is not a problem.

Atalanta viewed Pobega as an alternative target to the Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners but they have hit a stalemate in the negotiations with AZ Alkmaar and have decided to focus strongly on the Italy U21 international instead.

The Rossoneri would like to avoid a Pessina or Locatelli style regret and would like to protect themselves in some way, by inserting a buy-back clause or by letting him go only on loan.
