Arsenal transfer round-up: Inter ‘willing to accept’ £43m Achraf Hakimi sale

Arsenal’s mixed season has shone a light on the mass overhaul still needed at the Emirates.

Mike Arteta bought in several new faces during his first summer, but his Gunners side could finish lower than they did last season.

The January arrival of Martin Odegaard on loan has been a big plus although the club’s finances could hamper a permanent deal.

As a result other playmakers are being considered ahead of the summer transfer window.

They remain in contention for Europe’s secondary club competition and success could strengthen their hand.

Calhanoglu eyed as Odegaard alternative

Arsenal have made contact with AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu according to Sky Sport Italia.

The north Londoners are keen to have another playmaker in their ranks next season and may not be able to keep hold of Odegaard.

The Norwegian loanee has a £300m release clause in his Real Madrid contract which would prove beyond Arsenal’s financial capabilities.

Luiz could extend Arsenal stay

Mikel Arteta’s continued doubts over William Saliba could see Arsenal ask David Luiz to remain at the club – but on reduced terms.

The young French centre-half was signed by Unai Emery more than 18 months ago, but didn’t arrive until Arteta was in charge.

Saliba failed to make an impression at Arsenal and was subsequently loaned back to Ligue 1.

It has left the Arsenal boss with a lack of options however and he must decide on how best to manage his resources this summer

Luiz remained at the Emirates this season after signing a one year extension.

The Gunners are again set to offer him the chance to prolong his stay, but he will have to take a pay cut according to The Sun.
