All the key stats from Milan’s win over Verona


AC Milan showed some brilliant character to battle from two goals down and earn a 3-2 win over Hellas Verona at San Siro last night.

Verona found themselves two goals to the good as Caprari and Barak each scored, but Milan roared back in the second half through a Giroud header and a Kessie penalty which levelled the game, before an own-goal from Gunter resulted in three points.

➤ Milan have picked up 22 points in the first eight games of the campaign, a record for the Rossoneri at this point of the season in the three points per win era.

➤ Tonight was the first time since July 2020 that Milan overturned a two-goal deficit in Serie A (4-2 against Juventus).

➤ Olivier Giroud became the fifth Milan player since 1994-95 to score three goals in his first two home games for the Rossoneri in Serie A: Oliver Bierhoff, Alexandre Pato, Mario Balotelli and Carlos Bacca the others.

➤ Milan have scored more goals from penalties in 2021 than any other team in the top five European leagues (11).

➤ Tonight, Ante Rebic made his 50th start for Milan in all competitions, as well as his 50th start in Serie A.

➤ Tonight’s appearance was number 100 in Serie A for Zlatan Ibrahimović in a Milan shirt.
