Ajax star Kudus makes admission over future as Milan scouts watch his development

Mohammed Kudus is attracting interest from a number of top European clubs including AC Milan but he has admitted he would be open to staying at Ajax beyond the summer.

According to a report from 90min there are a number of sides who are watching Kudus closely in a season in which he has 18 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances, with Manchester United, Napoli, Milan, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Liverpool having all sent scouts to watch the talented Ghana international.

However, Kudus has given an interview to De Telegraaf in which he has admitted that he would consider renewing his contract and staying beyond the summer even if bids could arrive from some of the elite around the continent.

“I am very happy at Ajax at the moment, but I will be even happier if we win the double. Why wouldn’t I want to renew? I play and develop well,” Kudus said (via 90min).

“Now it’s about negotiation and valuation. When the time is right, we’ll see how it goes. But that will have to be conducted with my agent. I want to focus entirely on the title race.

Kudus also spoke about his failed move to Everton last summer, admitting that Ajax’s decision to block the move frustrated him at the time but might just have been a blessing in disguise given how things have worked out in Amsterdan.

“The fact that Ajax blocked a transfer to Everton last summer disappointed me. I thought it was time for a new chapter in my career, because I wasn’t playing here. But the moment the transfer market closed, my full focus was back on Ajax. The only reason I wanted to leave before that was because of my reserve role.

“I eliminated that problem myself. Everton are not doing well in the Premier League, Ajax are in the title race and under John Heitinga I am a permanent fixture. I have a strong faith in God and he has made the positive decision for me not to let the transfer go through.”
