U17s win at home, U19s prepare to host Paderborn

Borussia Dortmund’s U17s followed up their 2-2 draw in Bielefeld in their Bundesliga curtain-raiser with a 3-0 home win over Bayer Leverkusen. The U19s, meanwhile, will welcome SC Paderborn to Brackel on Sunday (kick-off 11:00 CET).

Sebastian Geppert’s charges were in total control against their Leverkusen counterparts. The match was already over as a contest by the break, with Jaden Korzynietz (9), Marlon Ubani (10) and Raul König, who converted a penalty awarded for a foul on the half-hour mark, scoring the goals. Despite the clear victory, Sebastian Geppert was not entirely satisfied: “We had a lot of possession in the second half but made too many passing errors.”

U19 boss Mike Tullberg is expecting a “strong and well-structured opponent” when his lads take on SC Paderborn on Sunday. They will be aiming for another successful result in that Bundesliga clash, having won 3-2 away to Besiktas in the UEFA Youth League in midweek. But Tullberg freely admitted: “The match and the trip to Istanbul were energy-sapping.” One or two personnel changes can therefore be expected.
