Tuchel was appointed at the West London club in January to replace Frank Lampard who was sacked with the Blues languishing in ninth in the Premier League and with just one win in five in the division.

Chelsea ’s results and expectations were transformed following Tuchel’s arrival and within four months they were crowned champions of Europe as they lifted the Champions League for the second time in their history.

The Blues secured the scalps of Atletico Madrid, FC Porto and Real Madrid on their way to the final before edging out Manchester City in the showpiece.

Tuchel also guided the club into the final of the FA Cup and secured a top four finish on the final day of the campaign, as they pipped Leicester City to the finish.

That momentum has been carried on into the current campaign with the Blues sitting top of the Premier League and Saturday’s 7-0 win over Norwich City kept them clear at the top of the standings.

Tuchel spoke at the recent Festival dello Sport in Italy in which he revealed that it had always been a dream of his to be involved at Barcelona.

Speaking at sportweek, as outlined by Diario Sport, the German claimed that it had been his motivation from his playing days to eventually move to Barca.

Tuchel’s playing career ended at age 25, as a result of a chronic knee cartilage injury having been limited to just 77 league appearances across a six-year career as a professional football.

By 2000, the German was already involved in coaching and built up a wealth of experience in multiple youth coaching roles before breaking through into the top level.

Tuchel would get his first major managerial breakthrough at the helm of Mainz in the Bundesliga where he spent five years, before moving to replace Jurgen Klopp as Borussia Dortmund boss.

He would subsequently go on to coach Paris Saint-Germain before his appointment at Stamford Bridge earlier this year.

While his comments of having a dream of being at Barcelona was associated with his playing career rather than his coaching stint, it is an indicator of his admiration for the Catalan giants.

The coaching position of Barca is one that is often in the spotlight, with current incumbent Ronald Koeman under significant pressure – and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Tuchel would no doubt be a candidate who is greatly admired at the Camp Nou but there is little indication that he is open to leaving Chelsea at any point soon.

The German coach has ensured the Blues are a major contender for this season’s Premier League title and appears likely to be in the position for many years to come.
