The agent of Robert Lewandowski has slammed Bayern Munich for preventing his client from quitting the club this summer and has accused the German giants of trying to replace him with Erling Haaland.

The 33-year-old, who has just over 12 months remaining on his current Bayern deal, has been linked with a lucrative move to Barcelona in recent weeks and is keen to seal an early exit from the Allianz Arena. However, Bayern are determined to hang onto the striker, who has plundered 48 goals in all competitions this term for the German giants.

And after Bayern chief Oliver Kahn insisted that the Polish hitman will not be allowed to leave the club this summer, his representative, Pini Zahavi, has hit out at Bayern and urged the Bundesliga champions to allow Lewandowski to seal his ‘dream move’ after eight years of sterling service in Munich.

In an explosive interview with BILD, Zahavi, said: “For Lewandowski, Bayern is history. There was no proposal from Bayern for Lewandowskis to sign a new deal. He just wants to leave the club after 8 years. He’s 34 and wants to make his dream come true.

“He wants to leave this summer, none of us care about the money. The truth is that he hasn’t felt respected by the board for a few months now. Bayern lost Robert not only as a footballer but as a person.

“Robert has the chance to move to the club he has always dreamt of. Why is Bayern denying him this opportunity? I actually had no intention of speaking in public. I have great respect for a historic club like Bayern, but I couldn’t help myself but react to the club’s latest statements.”

German outlet Sport1 claimed earlier this weekend that Barcelona have tabled a bid of £25million to acquire the iconic forward. But the German giants are set to stand firm and attempt to keep Lewandowski in Bavaria until the end of his contract.

But Zahavi has warned Bayern against forcing his client to see out the final year of his deal in Germany – and even claimed that the club were planning to replace Lewandowski this summer with Haaland. It was confirmed earlier this month that Borussia Dortmund hotshot will be joining Manchester City in a £51million deal.

Zahavi added: “Yes, they can keep the player for another year, but that’s something I don’t advise. Lewandowski is a smart man and he knew what was going on around him and what Bayern were planning. He knew the club wanted to replace him with Haaland.”
