Repubblica: Milan identify Bundesliga man as ideal summer signing

More reports continue to surface suggesting that AC Milan are ready to go in for Marcel Sabitzer of RB Leipzig.

La Repubblica (via MilanLive) have perhaps gone the strongest yet with their story, claiming that Sabitzer is viewed by Milan as the ideal attacking midfielder and the most suitable to strengthen the Milan squad out of all the targets.

The Rossoneri have indicated Sabitzer as the number one goal to replace Calhanoglu because he has the qualities and characteristics to suit Stefano Pioli’s style, because he contributes both in and out of the possession phase.

His contractual situation helps Milan too as Sabitzer’s deal will expire in 2022 and he is unlikely to renew with Leipzig. The Germans are therefore willing to sell to the highest bidder, even for bids of less than €20m.

There are Premier League clubs, Bundesliga sides and some Italian teams (Roma and Napoli among them) keen on the Austria captain, but one thing is certain: Milan will try and consider Sabitzer as the perfect summer signing.
