Paul Scholes explains why Man Utd’s Erling Haaland or Harry Kane decision is simple

Paul Scholes has told Manchester United who to sign out of Erling Haaland or Harry Kane, insisting it is an easy decision.

It comes as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes a new forward to bolster his squad next season.

In the Premier League, the Red Devils have been in fine form but have lacked the same impact in the Champions League.

After three years at the club, the Norwegian coach has yet to win any silverware and it is believed a world-class striker will breach that gap.

Several have been linked but the favoured forward is Borussia Dortmund star Haaland – who has caught the attention of teams around the world.

After 33 goals in 31 appearances, the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested.

But there is a similar situation evolving over Kane, with the Tottenham hitman reportedly looking to leave at the end of the season.

United have long been linked with a switch for the England international, who has scored 231 times for Spurs.

However, it is a simple choice for Scholes – who insists Haaland is the man the Red Devils must sign.

“He’s [Haaland] the best striker out there in the world, without a shadow of a doubt. it’s ridiculous what he’s doing,” the former midfielder said on the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel.

Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham

“If you sign him now you’ll get 10 years of him.

“With Harry Kane, at 28, 29, he’s in the peak of his career but you’re talking two or three years as a top-class striker.

“When you get to 31, 32, you probably lose your legs a little bit, start to drop deep as he’s started to do a little bit now actually.

“As for Haaland he’s going to cost a lot more money, they’re both going to cost a lot of money, but I think if you’re looking to the future in the next few years Haaland has to be the one.”

It remains to be seen where either player will end up with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola jetting off around Europe to speak to various clubs.

While Scholes believes Kane is going nowhere and could stay with Tottenham until he retires, adding: “It’s all down to him, if he wants to go there’s plenty of clubs who want him, of course they will, he’s a brilliant centre forward.

“I just get the impression he’s not going to leave. ‘I don’t know why, I’ve just got the feeling he’ll be at Tottenham until he finishes.”
