REVEALED: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘keeps calling Erling Haaland’ in a bid to persuade his fellow Norwegian to join Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window
- Erling Haaland’s long-term future is the subject of intensifying speculation
- It appears increasingly likely that Haaland will exit Borussia Dortmund this year
- Manchester United are one of a number of elite clubs who are interested in him
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already begun making his move to convince Erling Haaland to join him at Old Trafford in the summer.
The Borussia Dortmund striker is widely expected to leave the German club later this year, especially with their qualification for next season’s Champions League appearing in doubt.
His potential availability has sparked Europe’s elite into pursuit and Solskjaer is reportedly using his ties to his fellow Norwegian to try to convince him to head to the red side of Manchester. Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City also hold a strong interest.

Reports in Spain say Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has began to make a move
Spanish publication AS say that Solskjaer ‘keeps calling’ Haaland to sell the United project to him and convince him that his future lies at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer and Haaland worked together when the United boss was in charge at Molde in Norway and he is hoping they can join forces once again in the Premier League.
Haaland has been in prolific scoring form for both club and country this season – so far, he has fired in 39 goals in just 36 appearances in all competitions.
Sportsmail reported earlier in March that Haaland has a buy-out clause of £90million at Dortmund which will have to be paid in one instalment.
Any potential move for Haaland would also have to see United soften their reluctance to work with his agent Mino Raiola. He has been problematic for United in recent months with his posturing over the future of another of his clients in Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba.
Sportsmail has previously reported that United are mindful of working with Mino Raiola again
But the chance to sign someone like Haaland may prove to enticing a prospect for United
But the opportunity to land one of the game’s most coveted talents may be enough for United to swallow their pride.
The 20-year-old Haaland was left raging during Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Cologne on Saturday, a result that leaves them four points off the top four in the Bundesliga standings.
According to BILD, Haaland was so incensed at his side’s display that he was overheard shouting ‘I f****** hate this. F****** bulls***’ at the half-time break, with his side drawing 1-1 at the interval. Then at full-time he angrily refused to shake anyone’s hand and stormed off the pitch.
Haaland is currently with the Norway squad where they are due to begin their World Cup qualifying campaign on Wednesday against Gibraltar.
They follow that clash with encounters against Turkey and Montenegro. Haaland has six goals in just seven international appearances for Norway to date.
