Liverpool have had their problems this season and Jurgen Klopp is looking at the transfer window as a potential solution.
The Reds are toiling to finish in the top four – not what they had envisaged after winning the Premier League with such ease last year.
The Anfield outfit have a number of transfer rumours floating around going into the summer window, with Mohamed Salah and Georginio Wijnaldum linked with departures from Anfield.
However, they have been given the green light to pursue Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic, while they also appear to have their eye on a number of other potential targets.
Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours and gossip.
Reds join race for Josip Brekalo
Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Wolfsburg playmaker Josip Brekalo this summer, who has enjoyed a stellar year in the Bundesliga.
According to Calcio Mercato, via Boot Room, there are a host of clubs chasing the 22-year-old, including Premier League rivals Arsenal, plus Atletico Madrid, Roma and AC Milan.
But the Reds have also been said to have thrown their hat into the ring for established Croatian international, Brekalo.
Father of target warns against move
The father of potential midfield target Ryan Gravenberch has warned his son not to be lured by the bright lights of the Premier League and to get his head down at Ajax.
Gravenberch is one of the most exciting names in Dutch football, having properly broken into the first team at the Johan Cruijff ArenA this season.
The 18-year-old was being lined up as the long-term successor to fellow countryman Georginio Wijnaldum, who is set to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
But his father has told him he should stay in Holland and continue on the path that has been laid out for him there.
“He has to take that last step at Ajax. He just has to and he hasn’t done that yet,” Ryan Gravenberch senior told Ajax Showtime.
“I want him to fully mature at Ajax, so as far as I’m concerned he will just stay at Ajax.
“He has only played one full season now and that was of course quite good, but next season he will have to play even better.
“Then, despite his age, he really must be one of the key players, especially if he plays in the European Championship [with the Netherlands].
“Next season, he will not get away with it in the dressing room if he plays poorly several games in a row.
“I really think he should take a step at Ajax first. He has to climb in the hierarchy and stand up more for himself within the squad.
“I’m not going to push him to do that, that makes no sense to Ryan. But he also realizes that. He also thinks it is best for him to stay at Ajax.”
Shaqiri advised of next move
Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has urged Liverpool to cash in on out of favour winger Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.
Phillips reckons a move north of the border to Celtic could be good for the Swiss, but has concerns over a lack of consistency.
“From Liverpool’s point of view, I think they would rather see Shaqiri leave on a permanent deal,” he told Football Insider. “It will be interesting to see what happens there.
“Shaqiri has got a lot of quality and I think he would shine up in that league. That would be a great signing for Celtic so long as they did not have to break the bank to get him in.
“He is a good player but I’d be concerned that he sometimes he goes missing.
“You need to perform week in, week out because it is paramount that they win the league next season.”
