Jadon Sancho will instantly “add value” to Paul Pogba, following his Manchester United arrival according to the winger’s former coach.

After spending much of 2020 unsuccessfully chasing the Borussia Dortmund forward, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to have finally landed his top target this time around.

United had a bid of £72.9million accepted by the German giants and the transfer is expected to be completed upon the completion of England’s Euro 2020 campaign.

Sancho will add to a United side that already includes attacking talents like Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani.

But it’s not just the forward players that are set to benefit from his move, with his former coach Louis Lancaster anticipating Paul Pogba being another beneficiary of the big summer transfer.

Lancaster worked alongside Sancho during his days at Watford and he believes his greatest quality will be how he improves those around him.

“Firstly, he’s going to bring goals and assists,” Lancaster told the Stretford Paddock. “He’s not a one-season wonder anymore, he’s proved that now, he’s been consistent.

“His numbers are off the chart, I think he’s getting one goal or assist per game. He’s making the most successful dribbles in Europe, the most entries into the box, so that’s where he is going to excel.

“But I think Jadon’s greatest quality is that he can add to other people’s games. So although you’ve spent money and signed one player, I think you’re going to get a better Bruno [Fernandes], a better Pogba, [Edinson] Cavani.

“I think that’s his greatest skillset, adding value to other people’s games.”

Pogba’s future at Old Trafford remains in doubt, with the France international set to become a free agent at the end of next season.

Following Les Bleus’ exit from the Euros, he has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, although Solskjaer is keen to sign him to a contract extension.

And Lancaster also thinks that Sancho’s switch could help convince Pogba to stay, with the ambition of playing alongside one of Europe’s top stars.

He continued: “It’s like nine-year-old football isn’t it? If you’re playing on the tennis courts, you want the best players on your team so you can beat the other team.

“It’s the same at this level. Every player is hungry, ambitious and wants to win trophies and will say, ‘If you can help me win a trophy then I want you to be part of that’.

“Looking at Jadon, because he’s such a giver to the team, I think he’ll fit straight in and compliment the team.”
