Manchester United and Arsenal are said to be keen on Tapsoba but it seems the 22-year-old has his heart set on west London.

As quoted by Afriquesports, via Goal journalist Ronan Murphy, Tapsoba said: “With Chelsea FC, for the moment, there is nothing concrete, nothing official.

“What I can say is that I will start my season with Bayer Leverkusen. We keep our fingers crossed for God to guide us to the right path.”

Tapsoba played 31 Bundesliga games for Leverkusen last season, helping his side to qualify for the Europa League.

And after the successful signing of Kai Havertz last summer, Chelsea could be keen to raid Leverkusen of another young talent.

The cenre-back was reportedly top of Arsenal’s transfer wishlist but could be out of their price range at £52million, as Gunners sporting director Edu will need to sell players in order to buy.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel is believed to be keen on adding a centre-back to the squad but looks set to miss out on Sergio Ramos, who is close to joining PSG.

Should Chelsea fail to land Tapsoba, they could switch their focus back to Jules Kounde, another defender on the transfer wishlist.

The Blues are also reportedly keen on hijacking Arsenal’s deal for England star Ben White.

The club is believed to have told the Brighton ace they are keen on signing him and hold the advantage of being able to offer him Champions League football.
