Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is adamant that Erling Haaland will remain at the club this summer.

There has been intense speculation over the striker’s future of late, with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola and father Alfie having held talks with Real Madrid and Barcelona ahead of a potential £145m transfer.

However, Watzke insists that Dortmund don’t have any plans to sell the 20-year-old this summer.

Watzke told goal: ‘We don’t have a parallel plan. We’ll discuss this with Erling, his father and his agent Mino Raiola in peace. We also want him to stay with us, to score goals for BVB next year with conviction. There is no alternative plan.’

Haaland is very highly sought after having made a tremendous impact for Dortmund since he joined from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

Last season Haaland scored an impressive 16 goals in 18 appearances for Dortmund, while this campaign he has found the net 33 times in 32 games.

Haaland’s contract runs until the summer of 2024 and Dortmund are determined to keep hold of him for as long as possible. 

Despite last week’s meetings, Raiola indicated that a deal hasn’t been struck for Haaland to move elsewhere, with the agent tweeting: ‘Fake news travels fast’.

Raiola was eager to dismiss suggestions that he had negotiated a £17m cut out of a £154m deal for a transfer involving Haaland.  

There have been suggestions that Raiola will hold talks with further clubs, including Premier League sides Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
