Sergio Aguero has been encouraged to join Arsenal if he decides to stay in England when he leaves Manchester City at the end of the season.

Paul Merson reckons the Gunners tick all the boxes for the Argentine, who has been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United.

“Will he stay in England or will his next move be abroad?” Merson told Sky Sports.

“If he stays in England, I think Arsenal would suit the style he would be looking for. They’d be a good choice.

“Mikel Arteta was at Manchester City [as assistant manager] and the way Arsenal play; they get around the box and they do create a lot of opportunities. Arsenal do tick that box for Aguero.”

Martin Odegaard alternative identified

Christopher Nkunku has continued to impress for RB Leipzig

Arsenal have reportedly identified an alternative option to Martin Odegaard this summer if Real Madrid do not want to sell the Norwegian.

Talk has been rife of the Gunners making Odegaard’s deal permanent at the end of the season due to his impressive performances so far on loan.

But if they are unable to land Odegaard, Sky Sports in Germany claim that the north London club are considering a move for RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

The Frenchman has six goals and five assists in 21 Bundesliga games this season, and is said to have been targeted by Arsenal before he left PSG for Leipzig back in 2019.

The 17-year-old has been compared with former Arsenal target, RB Leipzig star Upamecano, with his “precocity and position” most comparable, according to Foot Mercato.

The Gunners could face competition from Leicester for Doukoure’s signature though, with the Foxes also keen on the breakout star.
