There’s no let-up for the Bayern players! Just three days after the important win at VfL Wolfsburg, the reigning champions host Bayer 04 Leverkusen for an evening kick-off (20:30 CEST) in the next crucial match in their mission to defend the title. 1. Bayern want the anniversary win
The record champions have a clear lead in the head-to-head with Leverkusen and could celebrate their 50th Bundeliga win against the Werkself on Tuesday. Bayern are the only team against which the side from the banks of the Rhine have lost more than half of all their Bundesliga clashes (59%, 49 out of 83).
2. FCB goal factory continues to run flat out
Hansi Flick’s team scored in their 66th straight competitive match in the 3-2 win in Wolfsburg, further extending the record for a German team in professional football. The men from Munich also have a run to defend against Leverkusen: Since losing 1-0 in October 1989, FC Bayern have scored in each of their 30 Bundesliga home games against Bayer 04. The record champions have only bettered that scoring streak in their own stadium against VfB Stuttgart (31 games until 1998) and Hamburger SV (currently 39 games) in this competition.
A brace from Jamal Musiala and an Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting strike in the 3-2 win in Wolfsburg ensured Bayern’s impressive scoring streak continued.
3. Best home attack meets best away defence
With 83 goals, Bayern clearly have the best attack in the Bundesliga, something they consistently underline in impressive style in home games especially. In 14 games at the Allianz Arena, the scoring anthem has already rung out 51 times following an FCB goal – no other club has scored more than 32 goals at home this season (Borussia Dortmund). In contrast, Bayern 04, together with RB Leipzig, currently have the best defence on the road, having conceded only 12 goals in 14 away games.
4. Neuer set for next milestone
Manuel Neuer has won 290 of his 434 Bundesliga games – and could further enhance his already legendary status with the next success. He’d then catch up with Manfred Kaltz (291 wins) and would have only the Titan, Oliver Kahn (310 wins) ahead of him in the list of record-breaking Bundesliga winners.

5. Wolf off to a strong start with the Werkself
Under interim head coach Hannes Wolf, the Werkself have picked up seven points from three games – the last Leverkusen coach to get off to such a good start was Roger Schmidt in 2014/15 (also 7 points). Moreover, Bayer 04 have conceded only one goal since the change at the helm, something surpassed only by Rudi Völler at Leverkusen. The current managing director for sport didn’t concede a single goal in his first three games in the dugout in the 2000/01 season.
