CM: Milan, Inter and City Council clash over San Siro rent amount

AC Milan and Inter have managed to secure a deduction in the rent that they will pay to the City Council for the use of San Siro, a report claims.

Corriere della Sera (via Calciomercato.com) writes today that the two clubs have pointed to an article of their agreement with the council which provides for a proportional reduction of the fee in the event that the stadium is not fully usable.

The council have in turn given a discount of €100,000 on the 2019-20 rent (thus reduced to €7.1m), but raised the 2020-21 amount to €1.7m, bringing the rent to €9.2m. This is a decision based on the 20-21 revenues presented by the clubs.

This issue was the subject of a clash between the council and the clubs, which contest the figure of revenue because the capital gains of the players and the television rights were also included.

After the first tug-of-war the capital gains disappeared but the TV rights remained, the clubs then challenged the deed and asked for a suspension.

Now an agreement has been reached between the club and the public body: Inter and Milan renounced the suspension and the payment of the fee is frozen until the final judgment, but because the council is a public body, the teams have activated a surety for €3.7m each.
