Giroud assures Milan are ‘well prepared’ for Inter clash: “We have to win”

The derby between AC Milan and Inter will kick off in less than 30 minutes and it should be a very exciting clash. As Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out injured, Olivier Giroud will be the starting striker for the Rossoneri.

It was first believed that Ibrahimovic would make it back in time for the game but he still feels discomfort due to the Achilles inflammation. Giroud will thus step up and try to find the back of the net this evening, currently on seven goals for the season.

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, the No.9 shared his thoughts on the game and he assured that the Rossoneri have prepared well. For his own part, this could be a very important game ahead of the remainder of the season.

On the derby…

“It’s a derby that I watched even as a child, always cheering for Milan. Now I’m here to play it, it’s a special emotion.”

On his experience…

“In this type of match, it is important to stay calm and composed and give your all to win. We know the standings, we know we have to win. We have to play without fear and without pressure. We have to play with confidence.”

On what Pioli asked from the players…

“We are well prepared, we know the qualities of Inter, it’s a difficult match, but we know we have to win. Nothing more.”

Milan are currently four points behind Inter (who also have a game in hand) and thus they need to get the win tonight. A loss would result in at least a seven-point gap, potentially 10 points, and that would be hard to overcome.
